If you plan on using Cedar Shiplap siding for the exterior of your home, but you want a solid color finish, we highly recommend factory finishing each board with a high-quality oil-based primer first. The oil in the primer penetrates the wood and protects more than just the surface of the board from moisture, it also protects the wood from harmful UV rays. Once primed the siding can be installed giving you a 30-day window to apply the topcoat of paint. As an option we can machine apply one or two coats of high-quality latex paint (your choice of color) for maximum protection - the choice is yours.
