The dutch lap siding profile is very similar to traditional shiplap and channel rustic siding except there is a radius section on the upper leading edge of each board. Dutch (or German/Dutch) Lap siding is installed exactly like shiplap so it is very good at sealing out wind, rain, and other natural elements. This unique profile will give your custom home an attractive unique shadow line.

If you plan on using Cedar Dutch Lap siding, but you want a solid color finish, we highly recommend factory finishing each board with a high quality oil based primer. The oil in the primer penetrates the wood and protects more than just the surface of the board from moisture, it also protects the wood from harmful UV rays. Once primed the siding can be installed giving you a 30-45 day window to apply the top coat of paint.

Note: As an option we can machine apply one coat of primer and one two coat of high quality latex paint (your choice of color) for maximum protection - the choice is yours.
